Data Tracking are experienced in maintaining electoral registers through effective canvassing focusing on the times of day when occupants are expected to be present eg. early evening and weekend.
Our years of canvassing more than 1 million properties have given us data on the optimum times to canvas in individual areas eg. working class areas (terraced houses etc) early evening and weekend, higher income areas (large detached houses) during the week etc.
It is important for us and you to use our time to optimum effect and we aim to achieve a 50% response rate on each round of canvassing. As a result of this in a canvas of 1000 properties we would expect a three stage canvas to give the following result:
Stage One | 1000 properties | 500 completed |
---|---|---|
Stage Two | 500 properties | 250 completed |
Stage Three | 250 properties | 125 completed |
Balance Outstanding | 125 |
This final response rate of 87.5% is achieved by canvassing the same area on three separate occasions on three different days at different times. Obviously this is not suitable for all areas where a large canvas is being undertaken and we will discuss individual needs with each ERO before commencing any canvas.
Door knocking is a tried, tested and crucial part of ensuring that the electoral registers are as accurate and complete as possible. This will remain the case as EROs work to deliver the transition to the new individual electoral registration system.
